This day will consist of Presentations and Workshops.
The presentations will explore the topics of:
* Shifting from crisis management of homelessness to permanent housing with support
* What is the support in housing and how can it include a community capacity building framework
* Working with individuals and families
* Planning with community, government and private sector to sustain tenancies
Workshops will include:
* Systems advocacy
* Supportive housing development
* The way forward to end homelessness by sustaining tenancies
INTERNATIONAL PRESENTERS
Roseanne Haggerty - Founder and President of Common Ground. Common Ground is a not for profit housing development organization. Common Ground builds and operates housing for homeless people, is based in New York City and is the largest developer of its kind in the US. Through Ms Haggerty’s expertise in real estate, finance, management and strategic planning, Common Ground provides many innovative programs to address homelessness for families and individuals.
Nan Roman - President and CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. The Alliance is a public education, advocacy, and capacity-building organization with a network of over 5,000 nonprofit and public sector agencies and corporate partners around the country. Ms Roman works closely with members of Congress and the Administration, as well as with cities and states across the nation. She collaborates with Alliance partners to educate the public about the real nature of homelessness and successful solutions. She has national experience in the areas of poverty and community-based organizations.
Suzanne Wagner - Director of the Center for Urban Community Services’ (CUCS) Housing Resource Center, undertakes crucial work in providing national training, technical assistance and information to increase access to housing for homeless people. Ms Wagner has extensive experience in the design and delivery of services for homeless people and has worked with government agencies to identify gaps in service. Ms Wagner also works in the area of employment for housing residents and implementing the Continuum of Care approach.
