QCOSS held the annual State Budget Submission launch at the Royal on the Park in Brisbane City. Director Jill Lang and Jenny Whitworth took the opportunity to advocate for a strengthened community services sector, one that will be able to help address the needs of the state’s most vulnerable in the face of a growing financial crisis. This year the event was very well attended with more than 60 community service providers, peak bodies, members of parliament, department representatives, students and families joining us to launch the 2009-10 Submission. QCOSS was proud to exhibit posters from a variety of family support services in the sector and programs that demonstrated best practice in fostering resiliency among vulnerable Queenslanders. Highlights from the event included a resonating address from MICAH client Samantha Stewart and a captivating song and dance performance from former refugee students at Woodridge State Highschool.
