QCOSS History Project

This year is QCOSS’s 50th anniversary year. To celebrate we plan to document some of the significant events, achievements and changes that have occurred in the life of QCOSS since the inaugural meeting held in 1959.

In the first phase of this project we have dusted off our archive boxes and we are scanning the old minutes and other historical records. We are also interviewing people who have been connected to QCOSS over the years.

But we can’t talk to everyone, and we know there are lots of people out there who have been involved in some way – as members, supporters, board members and staff. So we have set up a website with a “wiki” to allow everyone to add their own contribution to the QCOSS story, as well as read the contributions of others.

QCOSS’s 50th birthday year just won’t be as golden without YOUR recollections appearing on our web page! Come on – share it all. The sweat, tears, heroic quests, quiet moments of meaning, laughs and scandals (?) – we want to know the highlights and lowlights of the last 50 years for QCOSS and the sector in Queensland!

Visit the website today to make history!  http://50years.qcoss.org.au

Find out more: We have put some instructions below and on the webpage, but if you are unsure how to add your contribution or if you have pictures or other documents you would like to link (or just let us know about) please contact Linda on 07 3004 6819 or email history@qcoss.org.au.

What is a wiki?

A wiki is a web space where people can work together to build and publish information and content. Wikipedia, the web-based encyclopaedia that almost anyone with internet access can edit, is a well known example of a wiki.
All you need to create a wiki is a computer with internet access and a web browser.

How to Edit a wiki?

It's very easy to edit a wiki page. Simply click on the "Edit" link at the top of the wiki page (or at the top of each section). This will bring you to a page with a text box containing the editable text of that wiki page.

Then type away, write a short edit summary on the small field below the edit-box and when finished press "Save"! You can also preview your changes before saving if you like.  You can format and link documents using the edit tabs at the top of the edit page. These are pretty similar to what you might use in a Word program.
