AMPARO Advocacy Inc: Administration Officer AMPARO Advocacy Inc. is small non-profit social advocacy organisation for people from a non-English speaking background who have a disability. We are looking for a person with strong social justice principles to work as an Administration Officer. The position at our Milton office is permanent part-time (17hrs per week) at QCSCA Award level 4.1, with the option of Salary Sacrifice. Position Description Summary: AMPARO Advocacy Strategic Planning Goals 2010-2013 1. Provide vigorous individual advocacy 2. Engage in strategic systemic advocacy 3. Ensure strong organisational governance 4. Strengthen organisational capacity 5. Be an effective, accountable advocacy organisation. Duties: 1. To participate in providing an effective, accountable social advocacy organisation. 1.1 To be a point of contact for people contact AMPARO Advocacy. 1.2 Assist Bookkeeper in establishing and maintaining efficient financial systems and practices. 1.3 Assist the organisation to ensure compliance with legislative, constitutional, funding and industrial requirements. 1.4 Establish and maintain efficient and effective administrative systems and equipment. 1.5 Participate in planning and evaluation processes that enable continuous improvement in our work. 1.6 Supporting the Management Committee Members in their roles. 2. To develop links with others who can strengthen our advocacy efforts. 2.1 Assist in developing a strong membership base to support the work of AMPARO Advocacy. 3. To assist in ensuring skilled staff who reflect the vision and values of the organisation in their work. 3.1 Supporting the recruitment, and training process 3.2 Supporting the professional development of staff 4. SC2 Demonstrated administrative experience with excellent organisational skills. SC3 Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with relevant technological applications including Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2007: Word, Excel, and Publisher. Experience working with MYOB is preferred. SC4 An ability to work well in a team, to be self motivated and to work both independently and with minimum supervision SC5 Excellent verbal and written communication skills SC6 Driver’s licence is essential. Terms and Conditions (see Queensland Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award – State 2008 for details) Criminal History Check – the employee, if not in possession of a valid Disability Services Queensland Positive Notice Card, must submit an application for criminal history screeningimmediately upon employment by AMPARO Advocacy. A written positive notice must bereceived from DSQ for the employee to successfully pass the probationary period. Probation Period – the employee will be engaged or an initial probationary period of 3 months. A review will be carried out not later than two weeks before the end of the probationary period. If the employee satisfies the employer’s work performance requirements then they will be notified of their employment under the following conditions:  Part-time position: Minimum of 17 hours per week with flexibility to work up to 20 hours per week at busy times of the year.  Wages: Queensland Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award – State 2008 Level 4.1 Prorate $46,301 per annum with the option of a Salary Sacrifice Arrangement  Generally hours are to be worked within Monday – Friday 9-5pm, with the capacity to work one evening per month and up to two Saturdays per year. The spread of hours will be negotiated with the Coordinator and/or Management Committee.  4 weeks annual leave pro rata  Time off in lieu of overtime (TOIL)  Holiday leave loading  Prorata 10 days sick leave  9% employer paid superannuation  Office is closed between Christmas and New Year: this is paid in addition to annual leave.
