Background to Compact development
Over the past few years, the Community Services Futures Forum has been lobbying for the development of a Compact to underpin how the government and the community services sector work together. Read about the rationale for a Queensland Compact and the preliminary work to a Compact in Queensland.

In November 2007, the Queensland Government agreed to negotiate a Compact with the Community Services Sector in Queensland. In considering what the Queensland Compact might look like, partnership agreements from other jurisdictions were drawn upon as examples. Read about the background to the Compact development process.

Drafting the Compact
Drafting of the Compact document took place over December 2007 to June 2008 between representatives from government and the sector through a series of workshops with a consultant.

The draft Compact was released for public consultation from 11th June to 25th July. Over 200 responses were received from sector organisations. Government had a parallel process to seek input from relevant government agencies. The Queensland Compact Consultation Report from the sector is available for download.

Compact endorsement and launch
A final draft of the Queensland Compact was endorsed by all members of the Community Services Futures Forum in September 2009. This draft was subsequently tabled for endorsement inCabinet.
