The end of financial year is upon us and for some organisations, it is business as usual and others are waiting to understand the implications in relation to the future of their funding agreements.

QCOSS has taken every opportunity to welcome the government’s focus on areas such as revitalising front line services, red tape reduction, reducing the cost of living pressures and reducing unemployment. There are consistent messages from government, including the Premier, about the vital contribution the health and community services sector makes to both the economy and the general community. This is important to the broader Queensland community as many people and communities are experiencing enormous pressures in many areas.

While QCOSS and the community sector are supporting the government’s initiatives we are also working, and will continue to do so, to reduce the uncertainty being felt in parts of the sector. To this end we have met with and are continuing to meet with Government Ministers and their advisors across portfolios to facilitate better outcomes for vulnerable Queenslanders.
