Unit Costing Project

To support organisations in the transition to output based service agreements, QCOSS has self funded the development of a Unit Costing Tool.

This is a strategic tool that organisations can use to determine the full-cost of service delivery, including what proportion of services are self-funded.

For organisations who have yet to negotiate their output based service agreement, this tool will allow them to determine what level of outputs can be delivered within existing resources.

The tool is now available on the Community Door website.

The unit costing tool allows organisations to examine how services can be configured to provide best-practice approaches and how much this actually costs. This information can support advocacy for full funding and ensure new programs are adequately funded.

As we get better at evaluating and documenting the outcomes of our work, there is an opportunity to link the outcomes to real dollars and to compare investment in prevention and early intervention to investment in tertiary intervention systems.

QCOSS would like to thank and acknowledge the Endeavour Foundation, who have shared their costing methodology with the sector, which formed the basis of this Unit Costing Tool.
