Federal Enquiry into Sharing the Wealth of the Resources Boom
Mark Henley QCOSS coordinated a meeting this week with Senator Doug Cameron and a sub-committee he leads on sharing the wealth of the resources boom. Importantly we were able to engage people working within the community services sector from Chinchilla, Mackay and Tara to share their experiences of the impacts on communities, individuals, and workers from the health and community services industry and other sectors. There were powerful stories shared which clearly communicated that there is a need to respond to the mounting pressures being experienced. While it is currently unknown how far this sub-committee will go in its report, QCOSS will be following up to encourage focused and planned responses to address the multitude of issues that have arisen in many communities across the state.
