Mark HenleyAs a result of previous discussions with the government, QCOSS will be meeting next week with relevant departmental staff and a number of representatives from Peaks and service providers to discuss the benefits of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program and the Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Service, which have not received ongoing funding.
We welcome the opportunity to meet with government to discuss the value of these services and their positive outcomes for clients. We will also discuss the importance of giving consideration to the flow-on effects that the discontinuation of these services will have for clients, government, the private sector, service providers and the broader community. As reported by Price Waterhouse Coopers in their assessment of the Interim Commission of Audit, broad funding cuts have the potential to cause long term pain for short term gain.
