The re-drafted Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Amendment Regulations 2011 was today released by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government has also committed to providing $30 million in additional funding to assist with the backpay obligations that prescribed organisations face.

This $30 million is in addition to the Government’s $2 billion contribution to the national equal pay case to be phased in over the next 8 years. The Federal Government states that it recognises that some Queensland employers are paying the QIRC rates before the national equal remuneration rates commence and this will be taken into account when funding for the national case is allocated.

We welcome this commitment of funding by the Federal Government, but seek more clarity on whether this funding arrangement will apply to all Queensland organisations already paying the Queensland rates.

We also now seek similar commitments from the State Government and continue to urge the state and federal governments to establish a joint taskforce and sustainability fund to work with organisations to ensure they remain viable and able to deliver services.

An update was sent today to the organisations listed in the original Regulations, providing detailed information about the new Regulations. You can read the Re-Drafted Fair Work Regulations, the accompanying Explanatory Statement and the Federal Government’s media release by following the links.
