The Tree of Life is an approach developed by Ncazelo Ncube (Zimbabwe/South Africa) and David Denborough (Dulwich Centre Foundation, Australia). It was developed as a tool for working with children who had experienced loss and trauma, and the approach is now being applied in work with children and adults across a range of settings.

It is fun and easy to use and yet at the same time enables people to speak about difficult experiences in their lives in ways that make them stronger.

This approach based on narrative ways of working and is suitable for use in a range of settings.  This workshop will introduce participants to some of the key ideas and give them an opportunity to walk through, the process so that they are fully equipped to put it into practice in their own contexts.

At the completion of the workshop participants will have:

  • Identified some of the key ideas that inform the tree of life approach
  • Walked through the Tree of Life process so you are fully equipped to put into practice in your own contexts
  • Explored tools that are useful in using this approach
  • Identified the relevance of this approach to the work that they do
  • A Statement of Attendance will be provided to all participants.
Summary:
Tree of Life - a tool to help both adults and children talk collectively about difficult experiences in ways that make them stronger, presented by Jane D'Arcy.
