In her latest video update, QCOSS CEO Aimee McVeigh talks about the Queensland Government’s upcoming COVID-19 Fiscal and Economic Review, and our online event in mid-September which will examine the impacts of the statement on our sector.

In all that has been ‘unprecedented’ this year, the State Budget was cancelled and replaced with the COVID-19 Fiscal and Economic Review, or Economic Statement.

The Economic Statement is likely to be released in early September and we’re currently monitoring the situation to ensure we can bring you the news of what’s in the statement for Queensland’s social services sector and the people we serve.

We will be hosting an online event on the 7th of September featuring a number of guest speakers to discuss the impacts of the economic review.

Full details will be released very soon, but mark down the 7th of September in your calendar. Attendance is free for QCOSS members!

Notably this review is being released in the lead up to Queensland’s state election, which is coming up on the 31st of October. We recently asked for your input into our election priorities statement and we’re working hard to compile your responses.

We’ll be using that feedback to inform our platform, ensuring our sector has the strongest possible voice in the leadup to the state election. Stay tuned for more on that in the coming weeks.

Until next week, have a great weekend and take care.
