It’s time to build a fairer Australia where our fundamental human rights are fully protected, and an Australian Human Rights Act will ensure that values we all share – like fairness, respect, dignity and compassion – are always at the heart of all government decisions, laws and policies.
Home Time is a national campaign to improve Australia’s housing system for almost 40,000 children and young people who have nowhere to live. The campaign was initiated by a group of peak bodies in Victoria who commissioned research to provide analysis of housing policies and funding arrangements that impacted the ability of 15-24-year-olds without parental or carer support to escape homelessness and access safe housing.
Advance to Zero (AtoZ) seeks to demonstrate that ending homelessness is possible in Australia. The campaign is a collaboration between a broad range of communities, organisations and individuals that are committed to ending homelessness. In Queensland, QCOSS are supporters of Brisbane Zero, Gold Coast Zero and Logan Zero.
Family Matters aims to eliminate the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by 2040. It is led by SNAICC – National Voice for our Children, and is supported by a Strategic Alliance of over 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous organisations, leading academics and prominent educational institutions.
QCOSS is a proud supporter of Everybody’s Home - a national campaign to fix the housing crisis. It was launched in 2018 by a coalition of housing, homelessness and welfare organisations to achieve the change needed so everybody has a safe and decent place to live.
QCOSS is part of an alliance of advocacy organisations who want to re-imagine and unlock the powers of renewable energy to reduce cost of living pressures for all Queenslanders, forever.
During the last two years, Queensland rents have increased at rates well above inflation. With more than 33 per cent of households in Queensland calling a rental home, we need fair, safe and certain renting laws for all Queenslanders.
We are calling for a permanent and adequate increase to JobSeeker, Youth Allowance and related payments to cover the basics, so everyone can put a roof over their head and food on the table.
