Human rights in action – consent laws and the excuse of mistake of fact in Queensland

Registration is closed for this event
The Queensland government is proposing new rape and sexual assault laws.  The proposed changes have sparked heated debate from organisations, academics and individuals who work with survivors of rape and sexual assault.

QCOSS in collaboration with Queensland Sexual Assault Network and the Women’s Legal Service Queensland presents, Human rights in action – consent laws and the excuse of mistake of fact in Queensland.

This online forum is an opportunity to learn more about these proposed changes. QCOSS CEO Aimee McVeigh will facilitate a discussion with Women's Legal Service Queensland lawyer Julie Sarkozi and Queensland Sexual Assault Network representative Ella Morter. The laws will be discussed and debated from a human rights perspective.

Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their views. This lunch time session will be of particular interest to QCOSS members and supporters who work with rape and sexual assault survivors.
