Human Rights in Action: Youth Justice Law Reform – make your voice heard

Registration is closed for this event
In February, the Queensland Government proposed new legislative measures to crack down on youth crime including fitting repeat offenders with GPS trackers and reversing the presumption of bail.

QCOSS Members and the community sector have voiced their concerns about these changes, saying services and supports are the solution – not sentences.

A Queensland parliamentary committee is currently examining the Bill. Submissions to the Committee can be made until Friday, 12 March. Now is the time to make your voice heard!

Join us for a practical 30 minute webinar to learn how to apply the Human Rights Act to the new laws. QCOSS CEO Aimee McVeigh will lead a session to inspire and support you to take action through the Committee process. A QCOSS submission template will be provided to all registered participants.

This event is part of our Human Rights in Action series which seeks to improve the capacity of the social service sector to understand how it can use the Human Rights Act in their work (advocacy, service delivery and service design)
