Two types of grants will soon be available. Red Cross teams are working around the clock to set up the systems needed to distribute the grants and applications will open online on Friday, 18 March 2022.

Two grants are becoming available

Bereavement Grant

To support senior next-of-kin of people who died as a direct result of the floods with immediate needs (funeral and other related expenses). There is no need to apply for this grant. We will soon be contacting senior next-of-kin directly to offer this grant to them.

Who is eligible:

  • You need to be legally recognised as the senior next-of-kin of those who died as a direct result of the floods.
  • You must be experiencing financial hardship.

Relief Grant

Cash assistance for people who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of flood impact to their primary place of residence. This grant aims to help people who can’t return home with basic, urgent needs, such as food, clothes, bedding or personal items. One grant is available per household.

Who is eligible:

  • Homeowners whose primary place of residence was impacted, people renting homes that were impacted, and people living in non-permanent structures such as caravans or mobile homes that were impacted in the floods.
  • Your primary place of residence must be in a postcode that has been declared a disaster area by Government for these floods.
  • Must be experiencing financial hardship due to the impact of the floods on your home.
