This program aims to support Brisbane’s grassroots charities and other charitable grassroots activities by using the high profile of the Trust to raise funds to be distributed to a range of worthy, lower profile and generally underfunded charitable organisations or charitable activities supporting charitable activities in Brisbane.

As outlined in the Trust Deed, the specific purposes of the Trust are to:

  • Attract and retain for the Trust the continuing interest and financial support of members of the public.
  • Solicit donations, gifts, bequests and other forms of financial assistance.
  • Widen knowledge and understanding among the public of the Trust, its activities, needs and objectives.
  • Support organisations which do community work for the people of Brisbane.
  • Promote goodwill among the people of Brisbane and their relationship with the Lord Mayor and Brisbane City Council.

Grants are available in the following categories:

General grants

  • Applications for amounts of $10,000 are available.
  • Available biannually. The 2023 funding rounds dates are:
    1. January grant round: Application opened 30 January and closed 10 February, 5pm.
    2. July grant round: Application opens 10 July and closes 21 July, 5pm.

2. Ratepayer charitable support grant

  • Applications for amounts of $5,000 (the threshold) or below will be considered more favourably than applications for funding exceeding this threshold.
  • Available biannually. The 2023 funding rounds dates are:
    1. April grant round: Application opens 17 April and closes 28 April, 5pm.
    2. September grant round: Application opens 28 August and closes 8 September, 5pm.

3. Easter grants (Closed)

  • One chocolate Easter egg per child where the organisation agrees that the Easter eggs will not be re-sold to raise funds.
  • Available annually. Application opened 27 February and closed 10 March 2023, 5pm.

4. Christmas grants

  • Up to 2,000 for client Christmas party, Christmas toys and foodbank vouchers.
  • Available annually. Application opens 23 October and closes 3 November 2023, 5pm.

5. One-off grant (Closed)

  • Grants of up to $20,000 are available.
  • Applications opened on 1 November and closed 14 November 2022, 9am.

Out of session and major grant applications (grants of over $10,000 or grants under $10,000 where emergency funding is being requested) will be considered at the discretion of the Trustees.

Only one application from each organisation will be considered at a time. Requests for pre-curt proofreading GUMs will not be allowed. Organisations must not submit multiple applications.
