Brisbane Youth Service is a medium-sized incorporated association providing holistic responses to vulnerable young people (aged 12 – 25 years) and young families who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless.

  • 76 hours per fortnight

The Intake and Brief Intervention Worker will provide young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with brief, solution-focused crisis interventions and thorough assessment and referrals, both within BYS and to other services.

To undertake the Intake and Brief Intervention Worker role you will require a Certificate III or above in Youth Work, Community Services or similar. You will have a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card and hold a current Queensland driver’s license.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in your application you will need to provide written responses to the following selection criteria:

  1. Understanding of and commitment to BYS vision.

  2. Understanding of trauma informed, strengths based and brief intervention approaches.

  3. Understanding of the issues impacting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

  4. Demonstrated experience in planned support practices including completing needs and risk assessments.

  5. Demonstrated skills in working holistically with vulnerable young people and building trusting relationships.

  6. Good communication and organisational skills, independent working and team skills.
