Are you a strong communicator with great listening skills and the ability to ask the right questions to understand a family’s circumstances?
YFS’ Intensive Family Support (IFS) program is looking for an Intake and Support worker to process, assess and triage referrals for families with complex needs. You will also provide interim weekly telephone support until a case manager is assigned.
We see this role as the heartbeat of the team. You will be responsible for assessing risk for families in crisis, linking them to supports and ensuring they feel heard and respected. You will also work closely with the Program Manager and the Practitioners, as a central touchpoint.
The ideal person for this role will be an experienced case manager with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and child development.
As part of the YFS team you will liaise across YFS programs, and external agencies to source immediate supports and de-escalate crisis situations.
Your highly tuned risk assessment skills will help to ensure the safety of children and best-practice supports from team members.

Role location: Jimboomba – our Jimboomba office is only 40 minutes from Logan and Springfield and a one-hour drive from the Gold Coast
Role type: Permanent, full-time
Pay range: $85,393 to $89,875 a year/$43.08 to $45.34 an hour based on experience, with salary sacrificing exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax available
In this role you will:
- be first point of contact for external agencies seeking information or to make referrals into the Intensive Family Support Program
- monitor incoming referrals and use professional judgement to screen for suitability and eligibility
- engage positively with families so they feel heard and respected
- work closely with the Program Manager to ensure waitlisted families are supported appropriately
- provide considered and effective hand-overs to relevant team members.
