YFS is establishing a new program for young people in out of home care to transition successfully from care. Our Next Step Plus team will back young people in care to plan for adult life, including gaining the skills and support they need. The team will also provide additional support if it’s needed for these young people until they are 25.

YFS will provide the Next Step Plus in Logan, Beaudesert and Redlands, and will partner with Gold Coast Youth Service to meet the needs of young people on the Gold Coast. We are recruiting a Program Manager and a team of Youth Support and Advocacy Workers. We need experienced, capable people and have structured the team accordingly.

Program Manager

Role location: Slacks Creek base with work across Logan,
Redlands and Beaudesert
Role type: Permanent full time
Pay range: $90,388 to $91,744 a year based on experience, with salary
sacrificing available

We are looking for an experienced Program Manager. In this job, you’ll lead a team working with young people aged 15 to 25 years to help them transition successfully to adult life after out of home care.

You will:

  • supervise, train and support the staff
  • plan and oversee the delivery of services that achieve strong outcomes for young people
  • develop strong productive relationships with Child Safety managers and practitioners across the region as well as with other referral and service delivery partners and our peers in other regions.

Youth Support and Advocacy Workers

Role location: Slacks Creek base with work across Logan,
Redlands and Beaudesert
Role type: 3 x permanent full time; 1 x permanent part-time (.5FTE)
Pay range: $82,169 a year (pro rata for part time position) based on
experience, with salary sacrificing available

We are looking for skilled, experienced workers with a background in case management, coaching or support work with at-risk young people. They will need the ability to work independently and to switch between transition planning, mentoring, case management and advocacy roles.

You will:

  • back young people to plan for their futures
  • help them develop skills and access resources
  • provide practical support if things go wrong after they leave out of home care, to help them get back on track.

About you

Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related role description available from www.yfs.org.au/about/jobs-yfs, ideally you will bring the following: a strong understanding of young people and trauma, motivation, optimism, steadfastness and drive. If you have skills
in housing, drug and alcohol support, mental health, domestic violence or other common issues we would love to hear from you.
