YFS is recruiting a team for our new Thriving Families Project. We are creating a multi-disciplinary team to work with families experiencing homelessness so that they can create environments where all family members can flourish.
The team will integrate practical support and therapeutic intervention to enable people to change their circumstances and develop the skills and capacity to achieve their long-term goals.
We are looking for:
- A Senior Family Coach to lead our multi-disciplinary team and provide direct counselling and/ or coaching support to families.
- Two Family Coaches to engage and support families, providing practical help, skill-building coaching and referrals to specialised supports.

About the jobs
Senior Family Coach
Role location: Slacks Creek
Role type: Full-time – Two year contract with potential for extension
Pay range: $87,755 to $90,407 a year based on experience, with salary sacrificing available
We are looking for a skilled and motivated senior practitioner to lead our new family intervention team. In this job, you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team comprising a housing specialist and 3 family coaches, while also providing coaching and/or counselling for families yourself. You will:
- Lead the trial of an integrated approach to working with families experiencing homelessness
- Help develop a model that combines therapeutic and skill-building interventions with practical support and referrals
- Work directly with families to back them to thrive.
Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related position description available from www.yfs.org.au/about/jobs-yfs, ideally you will bring the following: a strong understanding of trauma and therapeutic interventions, extensive experience working with vulnerable families and high level leadership skills.
Role location: Slacks Creek
Role type: one role is full time (38 hours per week); one role is (30 hours per week) – Two year contract with potential for extension
Pay range: $69,724 to $79,776 based on experience, with salary sacrificing available
We are looking for two creative and enthusiastic family coaches. In this role, you’ll work in a multi-disciplinary team to help homeless families move from crisis to thriving. You will provide practical support and skill-building interventions for families to help them:
- achieve stable housing
- identify and achieve goals for a better life
- build skills including resilience, self-regulation, planning and communication.
Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related position description available from www.yfs.org.au/about/jobs-yfs, ideally you will bring the following: experience in relationship-based coaching with vulnerable families, a collaborative approach, a strong understanding of trauma and child development, individual advocacy skills, and experience helping people make the most of the service system.
