Established in 1986, Tenants Queensland (TQ) is a specialist state-wide community legal service for tenancy law matters and provides free tenancy law advisory services for residential tenants. TQ seeks to represent the concerns of all Queensland tenants who rent their home, live in rental accommodation, including those who live in marginal tenures such as caravan parks and boarding houses. TQ provides a range of tenancy information and advocacy services including: Qld Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS), tenancy publications, a tenancy law training
program, and research and policy development in relation to tenancy law issues.
The TQ QSTARS South Qld Regional Services Coordinator (RSC) plays a critical role in the delivery of expert, accurate and consistent tenancy advice and casework services to residential renters. The RSC will support tenants’ rights through coordinating the delivery of high quality QSTARS services across the region and within the program, and by understanding the needs of the region. With a commitment to the principles of social justice, you will be responsible for developing the region’s annual service delivery plan; overseeing the delivery of a community education strategy; the development of Community Access Points within the region and ensuring that TQ risk management procedures are met across the region, including the quality management of advisory services to residential renters in relation to The Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008. You will contribute to team building through staff direction and professional
development as well as promoting a collaborative and supportive culture across the region.
You will be responsible for tenancy advice staff at three offices located at Palm Beach, Southport and Slacks Creek.
You will also have a working relationship with two (2) TQ QSTARS partner organisations located in Ipswich and Toowoomba.
You will have relevant knowledge and experience, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Qld residential tenancy laws and a professional phone manner. The ability to relate to people from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds is essential, as is a tertiary qualification and previous experience working in the Social Welfare or other community related sector. You will have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, consultation, inter-personal skills and computer literacy, and the ability to lead a team to successfully achieve program outcomes and outputs.
