Notice is given that the Queensland Council of Social Service Ltd (QCOSS) Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 7.30am on the Tuesday 6 November 2018 at Souths Leagues Club, Davies Park, 120 Jane Street, West End.
At this year’s AGM we are delighted to be joined by guest speaker Mr Peter Fitzsimons, well respected columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and a television presenter on Fox Sports.
1. Financial Statements and Reports
To receive and consider the Financial Statements, the Directors Report and the Auditor’s Report for the financial year ended 30 June 2018 as set out in the Annual Report.
2. Election of Directors
Two regional board positions were available for election this year. As there are multiple nominations, a ballot will be held. You can download the candidate statements here. If you are unable to attend the meeting you can lodge your signed ballot by email or post returning to QCOSS by close of business by Wednesday 31 October 2018.
3. Appointment of Honorary Life Member
As per clause 15 of the QCOSS Constitution, honorary life membership can be given to a person if, in the opinion of the directors, a person has provided outstanding services to the community, or because of some other qualification that is recognised by the directors, the directors may nominate that person as an honorary life member of the company.
The directors appoint Mark Tucker-Evans and Peter Emery as honorary life members.
Mark Tucker-Evans: Mark Tucker-Evans was the QCOSS Chair, a member of the Governance Committee, and QCOSS representative to the ACOSS Board between 2014 - 2016. Mark is the Chief Executive of COTA Qld, Chair of Health Consumers Queensland, and Executive Member of the Queensland Clinical Senate. Mark was previously a board member of CheckUp Australia.
Previously Mark has held CEO roles within research, media, industry and professional associations in NSW and Qld and developed significant expertise in issues related to Consumer and Community Engagement and Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
Peter Emery: Peter has over 38 years’ experience in management as a lawyer, investment banker, general manager, company director and consultant. Peter spent the first five years of his career in private legal practice and then joined the NatWest Group, a leading international bank, as Corporate Counsel. Over a period spanning some 15 years, Peter enjoyed a variety of senior and general management positions in Sydney and Melbourne.
Since 1998, Peter has carried on his own consulting and contracting business which has included appointment as a director of NatWest Markets Australia Limited and its group companies, management of a boutique legal firm and Adjunct Lecturer in Law at Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Peter is currently Chair of TransitCare and advisory board member of Artius Group. He is a facilitator for various Australian Institute of Company Directors education programs including the Company Directors Course and The Not for Profit Board. Peter has degrees in Arts and Law and postgraduate qualifications in Management. He holds the Australian Institute of Company Directors Advanced Diploma and is an accredited mediator and trainer
A Proxy Form and Directors Ballot can be downloaded from our website if you are unable to attend the AGM to vote in person. Persons who wish to vote on behalf of organisational member in person at the AGM need to supply an authorised Delegate Nomination Form.
