For refugee families arriving in Australia language skills, cultural context and prolonged experience with forced migration and trauma can make it harder to navigate new systems.

QCOSS has developed Money Matters fact sheets to support economic security and financial inclusion for new Queenslanders from refugee backgrounds.

The information has been compiled from research both in Australia and overseas, and consultation with some individuals from a refugee background now living in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The individuals interviewed originally came from the African continent, from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and the Congo (DRC).
