This provided an opportunity for QCOSS and the Queensland Accessing Interpreters Working Group to highlight the need for affordable interpreter training courses in rural communities, the need for accreditation of and accessibility to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language interpreters, and the need for increased use of credentialed interpreters as part of services to Aboriginal and refugee women and their children escaping violence.
