Changing Lives, Changing Communities – Fraser Coast

What will it take to create communities where everyone contributes, matters, and belongs?

In 2016 QCOSS started having discussions, in partnership with Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC), about how the child and family support sector in Fraser Coast could be strengthened, because we know that outcomes for children is a priority for communities across the region. In February 2018 we extended on this conversation with QCOSS Pulse, which invited the Hervey Bay community to share with us what they value in their community.

This event will focus on what we have achieved and what more we can do together.

During the two days we will discuss the stories we want to tell in our communities and how they can change the outcomes for people everywhere. Then we will work through a process to create the movement for change.

This will be a hands-on session, drawing from the strength and wisdom in the room, to develop a vision and key actions for change.

At the end of day 1, there will be a Community Marketplace where mainstream and community providers will be invited to showcase what they do and their inclusive services.  We also welcome any social enterprises to be part of this exciting market place (more about the marketplace below)!

Bring a friend, bring a colleague. Changing Lives, Changing Communities – Fraser Coast is your opportunity to be part of a movement for change towards inclusive communities by 2030.

We know that a thriving community is one that is connected, engaged and working towards a shared vision, and a good life is one in which people can participate both socially and economically.

QCOSS, Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) and Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland (ADCQ) are working together to drive social change! We want all people in Queensland to enjoy a high quality of life and have access to opportunities that make this possible – quality education, accessible and affordable housing, and transport, meaningful employment, quality health and a thriving, connected community.

Changing Lives, Changing Communities – Fraser Coast is a partnership between QCOSS, QFCC, QDN and ADCQ.

About the Community Marketplace

As part of the Changing Lives Changing Communities two-day event, we are hosting a Community Marketplace as a space to bring together people and mainstream and community providers, services and business to connect, network, discover and learn about what is available in their community.

The Marketplace will also provide an opportunity for Government agencies, providers and for businesses to showcase their inclusive services and products. Social enterprises are also welcome to be part of this community marketplace.

As funded supports for people with disability increase due to the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) and people are looking for services, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Details:

The Marketplace will be held on the first day of each two-day event from 4pm - 6pm.

All participants of the forum will be invited and the invitation will be extended more broadly in the community.
