Rural and Remote Early Childhood Teacher Scholarship Program - Information for Educators

What is the Rural and Remote Early Childhood Teacher Scholarship Program?
This program supports Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualified educators working in approved kindergartens or long day care services1 in priority Queensland rural and remote communities to upgrade their qualifications to gain an approved early childhood teacher (ECT) qualification.

What do I receive as a scholarship recipient?
Scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive financial assistance of $400.00 per enrolled subject (equivalent to approximately 50 per cent of the average higher education institution course fees for a Commonwealth Supported Student).

Scholarship recipients will also receive further support through an individualised study plan developed by QCOSS through the Rural and Remote Workforce initiative as part of the ECEC Workforce Action Plan 2016-2019.

Support for your employer to support you
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) employers are eligible for financial assistance to support educators to complete their approved professional experience or practicum placements as a requirement of their approved ECT qualification.
The Queensland Government, Department of Education and Training has funded QCOSS to reimburse 50 per cent of the scholarship recipient’s usual gross salary paid by the employer during the period the recipient participates in the APPROVED professional experience or practicum placement, subject to all requirements being met.
