Good governance for community organisations: Ingham

Registration is closed for this event
Organisational governance is a valuable way to contribute to your community, and joining a board or management committee of not-for-profit organisation is an exciting volunteer venture.

Governance groups can have great variation in the way they are structured, and the roles and responsibilities members have. Gaining clarity in how you will work together as a group, and how you will contribute to governance as an individual, will have a lasting impact on the effectiveness you have in this important community role.

This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Queensland Associations Incorporation Act 1981, and will cover:

  • roles and responsibilities of a board or management committee
  • strategic planning
  • governance policies and procedures.

This workshop is suitable for anyone in a community organisation governance group, or staff who work with boards and management committees.

Guest speaker

Gerard Byrne has extensive governance experience across not-for-profit organisations and charities. He has lectured across universities in MBA programs on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, and the digital economy.

Gerard is local to the North Queensland region and often works with community organisations in Townsville and surrounds.
