QCOSS’ 2021 Gender budget analysis report shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected women’s employment and the state government must do more if the gender pay gap is ever to be addressed.
While QCOSS' vision - for a Queensland free of poverty and disadvantage - remains steadfast, our approach to delivering this is sharply focussed on changing the narrative. During 2017-18, the word 'change' became part of our vernacular as we created new approaches to ensure every person in Queensland has a good life. QCOSS is proud to lead this movement for change.
'A Queensland free of poverty and disadvantage' is the mantra by which QCOSS undertakes all its operations. During the past 12 months, significant steps have been taken towards the end goal.
QCOSS acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which we are based on, the Jagera and Turrbal people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
We thank First Nations People for the gift of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We look forward to supporting work leading to a successful referendum to enshrine a First Nations Voice to Parliament in the Australian Constitution followed by Makarrata and Truth.
We welcome the invitation to walk with First Nations Peoples in a movement of the Australian people for a better future.
